Detroit Sports Network’s “Fan Profile for Charity”

There’s a lot of bad stuff going on in the world right now. I’m sure you’re sick of hearing bad news. I’m sick of hearing bad news. It’s everywhere and good luck trying to run away from it.

Usually, when bad stuff happens in the world and in our lives, we as fans gravitate to sports to give us a sense of normality and to escape, even if it is for a couple of hours. Unfortunately, that’s not exactly an option right now. But that doesn’t mean that we can’t get together as a community and do something good in these times.

I am a firm believer that Detroit sports fans are the best in the world. The community that fans of Detroit have created is one that is inviting, competitive, and most of all, passionate.

That is why we here at Detroit Sports Network want to give you, the greatest fans on earth, a chance to show your passion for the Lions while also showing your passion for the greater good.

What is this project?

We’re looking for the most dedicated Lions fans who have an interesting and/or unique journey to becoming a fan of the team and are also looking to make a difference. We will be profiling a select few on our site, giving them an opportunity to share their story and hopefully inspire others to share theirs as well.

We will be asking each fan that we profile for a charity of their choice. DSN will make a donation to each charity and promote/encourage other fans to donate to the cause.

We wanted to make it a little more interesting, so we’re going to have a fun, lighthearted competition aspect to this. Those who are interviewed will have a chance to win some Lions memorabilia (trust me, it’s going to be awesome) courtesy of the amazing people over at Pro Sports Zone (located in Livonia). We’ll also be giving an additional donation to the winner’s charity of choice.

Each profile article will have an option to vote for the fan and their charity, and the fan with the most votes at the end of the project will win.

How can I help?

If you think you or someone you know has an interesting and/or unique journey to becoming a Lions fan and has a passion for helping those in need, please send me an email at with the following information:

  • Fan’s full name
  • Interesting/unique story
  • Charity of choice
  • Twitter handle (if applicable)
  • Best way to reach fanĀ (If no twitter handle)

If you don’t know someone who has a unique story, don’t worry – you can still help! With each profile that comes out, we will be asking every fan to donate to their cause. Every donation helps, and they will all be for great causes.

Lions Fans are the best.

So let’s show the world that! Together we can make a difference, no matter how small. I’m asking you to help me do something important because I can’t do this on my own. The world needs something positive right now, and who better to provide that than Lions fans?
